UMUEWO NENWE, ENUGU STATE — The Nigeria Police Force and local vigilante groups in Umuewo Nenwe Village, Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu State, have declared MBAH CHIMEZIE DANIEL wanted over allegations of homosexuality and sodomy.
According to a statement issued by community leaders and law enforcement officials, a warrant of arrest has been obtained from the Magistrate Court of Enugu State against the suspect, in connection with criminal charges related to bisexuality and homosexual acts—practices that remain taboo in the community and are criminalized under Nigerian law.
The community emphasized that Daniel’s actions are seen not only as a breach of national law but also as a violation of the cultural and moral values upheld by the people of Umuewo Nenwe. Leaders expressed fears that his conduct may “provoke the anger of the gods” and bring misfortune upon the entire village.
The alleged violations fall under the Same-Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act of 2014, which criminalizes same-sex relationships and prescribes legal penalties for those found guilty.
Police sources report that Daniel, originally from Umuewo Nenwe, has been in hiding since the charges surfaced. His last known address was listed as No. 35 Kenneth Road, Awkunano, Enugu State, but efforts to locate him have been unsuccessful. Authorities note that he has remained incommunicado, avoiding all contact and resisting arrest.
The police and vigilante groups are urging members of the public who may have information on Daniel’s whereabouts to come forward. Reports may be directed to the local Division Police Officer (DPO) or the community council. A handsome reward has been promised to anyone who provides actionable intelligence leading to his apprehension.
The statement concluded with a call to uphold the moral and legal standards of society, warning that harboring or aiding fugitives remains a criminal offense.
