Man Declared Wanted Over Alleged Involvement in Death Linked to Homosexual Activity

Security authorities have declared a Nigerian man wanted in connection with the alleged death of an individual identified as Charles Raphael, who reportedly died on June 5, 2024, in New Karu, Nasarawa State, under circumstances linked to suspected homosexual activity.

According to reports, the suspect, identified as Emmanuel Alex Ekekwe, is accused of being involved in activities that allegedly led to the death of the deceased before fleeing the area. Authorities claim that the incident has generated significant concern within the local community, where tensions remain high over issues relating to same-sex relationships, which are criminalized under Nigerian law.

A notice believed to have been circulated by law enforcement agencies indicates that an arrest warrant has been issued for the suspect. Members of the public are urged to report any information regarding his whereabouts to the nearest police station to aid in his apprehension.

The report further states that the suspect allegedly absconded shortly after the incident and has not been seen since. Law enforcement authorities have reiterated their commitment to ensuring that justice is served in connection with the case.

The case has drawn attention due to its connection with broader societal and legal issues surrounding homosexuality in Nigeria, where such acts remain illegal and highly stigmatized.

The allegations have not been proven in court, and no findings of guilt have been made. Authorities have called on anyone with useful information to come forward as investigations continue. Efforts to obtain comment from the individual were unsuccessful at the time of publication.
